What does life look like when you step out of Class 12 and suddenly find yourself on a vast college campus, studying something you genuinely love?

Eshveer Singh gives us a beautiful glimpse into his everyday life at IIITDM Jabalpur, where he is pursuing his journey in Industrial Design. His day is not simply about attending classes—it is about discovering a completely new way of observing, thinking, creating and living.

Surrounded by the lush green landscape of the campus, student life here seems to move naturally between classrooms, studios, hostel life, conversations with friends and moments of quiet exploration. IIITDM Jabalpur’s design education follows a multidisciplinary approach, encouraging students to develop strong fundamentals while exploring areas such as product, visual, space, interaction and service design.

For a student coming directly from school, this transition can be extraordinary. In Class 12, life is often structured around textbooks, examinations and fixed schedules. Design college changes that rhythm. Suddenly, a sketch can become an idea, an observation can become a project, and an everyday problem can become the starting point of a new product.

And learning does not end inside the studio.

IIITDM Jabalpur is a residential campus, with student clubs, cultural activities, sports and technology communities forming an important part of campus life. These experiences teach students independence, collaboration, responsibility and, perhaps most importantly, how to learn from one another.

What Eshveer’s day beautifully reminds us is that being a design student is not only about learning how to design products—it is about learning how to see the world differently.

From school corridors to design studios, from familiar routines to an independent campus life, it is a journey of curiosity, friendships, experimentation and transformation.
