NIFT New Delhi Grad day 2025

Attending the 2025 Graduation Day at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in New Delhi was a profoundly nostalgic experience. As an alumnus, returning to the Hauz Khas campus—where my journey in textile design began—was both heartwarming and inspiring.

Established in 1986 under the Ministry of Textiles, NIFT has grown into India's premier fashion education institute, with 19 campuses nationwide. The Delhi campus, renowned for its architectural design by Dr. B.V. Doshi, has been a cradle for countless design professionals who have significantly impacted the global fashion industry

The 2025 Graduation Day was a vibrant showcase of creativity and innovation. Students from various departments—including Fashion Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, Accessory Design, and Leather Design—presented their final projects, reflecting the diverse talents nurtured at NIFT.

A highlight of the event was the fashion show held in the campus amphitheater. Fashion Design and Knitwear Design students unveiled their collections, each telling unique stories through fabric, form, and function. The Knitwear Design students, in particular, demonstrated exceptional skill in knitting techniques and yarn selection, resulting in garments that were both innovative and wearable 

The Textile Design department's exhibition, known as "Tantu," was a personal favorite. It was a pleasure to witness the evolution of this showcase, which has become a platform for students to explore traditional crafts and contemporary textile innovations. The 2025 edition featured a range of projects that seamlessly blended heritage techniques with modern design sensibilities .

Reconnecting with my former professors and mentors added a layer of depth to the experience. Their continued dedication to fostering new talent is evident in the quality and diversity of the student work on display. It was proud moment for me as a teacher also since 72 of my students graduated today . Watching them grow from the day they came to consult about their career in 2020 to this day when they are graduating gives me the feeling which cannot be expressed in the words .

NIFT's legacy is one of excellence and innovation. Its alumni have gone on to become leaders in various sectors of the fashion and design industry, both in India and internationally. The institute's commitment to integrating traditional Indian crafts with contemporary design education ensures that its graduates are well-equipped to contribute meaningfully to the global fashion landscape.

The 2025 Graduation Day at NIFT New Delhi was not just a celebration of student achievements but also a testament to the institute's enduring impact on the fashion industry. As an alumnus, witnessing the culmination of years of hard work and creativity was both inspiring and reaffirming of NIFT's pivotal role in shaping the future of fashion.
